What size Class C RV should I buy?
Class C motorhomes generally range from 22 to more than 40 feet, averaging around 30 to 35 feet. For most buyers, a length of 24 to 30 feet is considered the sweet spot, offering the best balance of interior comfort and campground flexibility. Compact models under 25 feet are easier to park and access more campsites, while longer models offer more living space for larger groups. If you want something even more manageable, a Class B camper van may be worth considering.
What is a Super C RV?
A Super C is a larger, more powerful variation of the Class C built on a heavy-duty commercial truck chassis rather than a standard van cutaway. Super C motorhomes offer significantly more towing capacity, a wider wheelbase for stability, and more interior space than a standard Class C. It is not uncommon for Super Cs to tow up to 25,000 pounds or more, putting them closer to a Class A diesel motorhome in terms of power and luxury. They're diesel-powered and best suited for experienced drivers or those who need serious towing capability.
Do you need a special license to drive a Class C RV?
A standard driver's license is all you need to drive a Class C motorhome in most states. Larger Super C models may require a CDL in some states, depending on the vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating. As always, check with your local DMV to confirm requirements in your state before you buy.
How long will a Class C RV last?
A well-maintained Class C motorhome can last between 200,000 and 300,000 miles, or roughly 15 to 20 years. Longevity comes down to how well it's maintained.
